Eight people are facing charges, including two residents of Ottawa, after a major drug bust this week connected to the investigation of a shooting in Petawawa, Ont. last March.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say search warrants were executed at various locations in eastern Ontario and Quebec on Thursday.
The investigation has led to a total of 47 offences, police announced in a news release Saturday. The suspects include two residents of Ottawa, two residents of Pembroke, two from Gatineau and one from Bryson, Que.
The charges range from drug and firearms possession, to trafficking and theft. The drugs include meth, fentanyl and cocaine.
Four suspects are also facing a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
Police say the street value of the items found is valued to be more than $2.5 million.
During the investigation, police seized the following suspected items:
- 9mm handgun with serial number removed
- Two replica handguns
- Ammunition
- 17,000 suspected of methamphetamine tablets
- 15.5 kg suspected cocaine
- 12.3 kg suspected fentanyl
- 124 g suspected crack cocaine
- 3,000 suspected hydromorphone tablets
- 112 g suspected crystal methamphetamine
- Jewelry valued at $150,000
- More than $264,000 in Canadian cash
