Cocaine woman’ pleads guilty to drug trafficking
The woman at the centre of the 12.5 kilogram cocaine bust in the UK, Nayele Ametefeh, has pleaded guilty to the charge of drug trafficking.
Nayele, alias Ruby Appiah appeared before the Isleworth Crown Court presided over by His Honour Judge Edmunds QC.
The trial which was via a video link from Her Majesty’s Prison, Bronzefield, did not last more than 10 minutes.
The case has been adjourned to
January 5,2015.
Nayele Ametefeh was arrested on November 10 at the Heathrow Airport after attempting to enter the UK with the cocaine in her hand luggage.
She was subsequently charged with Class A drug trafficking and was arraigned before the Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday November 11 and remanded in prison custody.
Meanwhile, a total of 12 people have been arrested in Ghana in connection with the case.
