INDIA: truck driver among three arrested with poppy straw, opium in Jammu, Kathua

Police today arrested three persons including a truck driver with contrabands of poppy straw and opium in two separate incidents in Jammu and Kathua districts of the state.Police today achieved major success by seizing a huge consignment of 485 Kgs of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) along with two suppliers, spokesman here said.He said that during a routine checking at Circular Road in Panjthirthi area this afternoon, police signaled a truck to stop for checking. »On seeing the police, the truck driver and helper tried to escape but arrested after a hot chase, » said the spokesperson.He said that during search of the vehicle, 485 Kgs of poppy straw was recovered and they both were arrested on the spot.
