International Deputy of Iran Drug Control Headquarters Nasser Aslani made the announcement on Wednesday, saying that some 17,765 kilos of illicit drugs consisting of 15,339 kilos of opium and 1,186
kilos of hashish, 428 kilos of heroin, 577 kilos of crystal, 53 kilos of grass, 67 kilos of morphine, and 116 kilos of other kinds of drugs have been confiscated by police forces across the country in the last week.
The figure indicates a 40 percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year, he added.
3,806 culprits have been arrested and 411 vehicles and some ammunition seized in the same period by police forces, Aslani said.
