Paraguayan police officers accused of removing red notice from Sebastián Marset’s wife’s criminal record.

The National Police appointed commissioner Julio Roberto Maldonado as the new head of Interpol (International Police) in Paraguay on Monday (4). The move comes after a scandal involving the agency’s leadership and the wife of Uruguayan drug dealer Sebastián Marset.

Gianina García Troche, who is also wanted by the Paraguayan justice system for international trafficking, money laundering, and other crimes, was included in the ‘Red Notice,’ also known as the ‘Red Diffusion,’ a list that gathers the most wanted individuals from each country.

However, Paraguayan police officers stationed at Interpol changed the data in the system and removed the ‘red code’ classification that existed in her criminal record, allowing Gianina to freely move around the country.
