NEW DELHI: The smuggling of narcotics is on rise in India, and ?Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata, apart from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, have become major transit routes for international druglords. But the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) does not have enough men to take on the drug cartel.

Established on March 17, 1986, the NCB is desperately seeking to hire around 100 junior intelligence officers to improve its activities. Over the past one year, it has made at least 10 attempts to hire officers, but without much success, sources in the agency said on Friday.

On October 11, 2018, the Bureau announced plans to hire 166 Junior Intelligence Officer on a deputation basis. The basic eligibility for applicants was having six years of service in their parent cadre and the NCB stated that the selected candidates would be posted anywhere in
India.

« The task of junior intelligence officers is to ensure enforcement of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act through collection and development of intelligence, investigation as well as search, seize and arrest. The junior intelligence officer would also have to look after trials in the courts, coordinate with other drug law enforcement agencies and carry out works assigned or allocated by his superior
officers, » said a source in the agency.

Narcotics Control Bureau sleuths have seized over
2,000 kg narcotics and arrested 27 people, including six foreigners, for drugs trafficking across the country in less than a month, officials
said Friday.

« During the last three weeks, the Narcotics Control Bureau seized 879.80 kg ganja, 13 kg morphine, 5.26 kg heroin, 1,155 kg ketamine, 7 kg charas, 10.3 kg opium and 1.22 kg of methamphetamine » a senior official said.

Era un mundo de gente: como en la estación de Once a hora pico, como a la salida de un Boca-River o como cuando un local anuncia un gran descuento en la noche de los shoppings. Gente desesperada por comprar droga, que hasta peleaban por los lugares de las filas.

Eran tan largas que los vendedores no aceptaban monedas. Contarlas implicaba mucho tiempo. Y había cientos de clientes por despachar.

Se estima que por día unas 3.500 personas visitaban el lugar.
Los fines de semana, la población crecía a 5.000.

Muchos directamente se quedaban a vivir. Solo salían a generar el dinero necesario para volver a comprar. La Policía no entraba.

New York (AFP) – Le frère du président hondurien Juan Orlando Hernandez a été reconnu coupable de trafic de cocaïne par un jury new-yorkais vendredi, une décision immédiatement dénoncée par le dirigeant hondurien alors que l’opposition appelait à des manifestations pour réclamer sa démission.

Après deux semaines d’un procès où le gouvernement hondurien a été accusé d’avoir touché des millions de dollars de pots-de-vin des narcotrafiquants, les 12 jurés du tribunal fédéral de Manhattan ont reconnu Tony Hernandez coupable des quatre chefs d’accusation contre lui, dont trafic de drogue, faux témoignage et possession d’armes à feu.

Le frère du président hondurien, un ex-député de 41 ans, devrait connaître sa peine lors d’une audience fixée au 17 janvier 2020.
