L’homme circulait sur l’autoroute à bord d’un camion qui a attiré l’attention d’une patrouille de la route sud de Vérone, car il était cabossé et certaines lumières étaient grillées. Lors du contrôle, il est apparu que le véhicule contenait du matériel de plomberie (y compris des toilettes, des lavabos et d’autres articles de toilette), mais le conducteur n’a pu produire aucun document de transport.

La nervosité croissante de l’homme a conduit à une inspection plus minutieuse qui a permis de découvrir, cachés comme des carreaux parmi les articles de salle de bain, 300 blocs d’un poids total de plus de 355 kg. contenant de la cocaïne pure.
