PAKISTAN (Karachi): 13 drug dealers held, 250-kg hashish seized

KARACHI – Sindh Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department, during the ongoing drive against drug dealers, on Wednesday arrested 13 accused and recovered 250-kg hashish and 700 litres of liquor from their possession.
They have also impounded two vehicles. The E&T spokesperson said on the directives of Sindh Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Minister Gyan Chand Essrani, a special drive against drug manufacturers and dealers was in full swing all over the province.
Director General Excise, Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh briefed the provincial minister about the ongoing campaign. A team headed by Director Excise Karachi, Amir Jameel conducted raid in Malir, arrested an accused and recovered 100-k hashish from his possession. In other raids, three more accused were arrested. Hashish and liquor were recovered from their possession.
In Sukkur Division near Obaro, a truck was spotted and 80-kg hashish was recovered from it. Two accused were arrested in district Sanghar. In Kandyaro, two accused were arrested and more than 170 litres of liquor was recovered. One accused was arrested in Thatta, another in Hyderabad and 265 litres of liquor was recovered from them. Raids were also conducted in districts Jacobabad and Nawabshah. In a statement, Gyan Chand has lauded the efforts of the excise department and expressed commitment that he would continue his efforts to make Sindh a drug-free province.
