PAKISTAN (Bawata border): BMP seizes 275kg drugs, releases dealers

PAKISTAN-I_copie_cle4a715aDERA GHAZI KHAN-The Border Military Police (BMP) claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle drugs to Punjab from here, and recovered 275 kilogrammes of Charas hidden in a truck.
However, a source accused that the police released the two accused including a drug dealer and the truck driver held on the occasion after taking bribe.
Addressing a press conference, Resaldar of Border Military Police (BMP) Dera Ghazi Khan Khurram Khan Khosa at BMP Line said that during routine surveillance at inter-provincial border check post of Bawata, they stopped a truck (855/TKT).
The truck coming from Balochistan was apparently looking empty, he said.
During search, the police seized huge quantity of Charas that was stuffed plastic bags and stocked in the hidden parts of the truck, he added.
The driver of the vehicle succeeded to escape from the scene, he said.
He noted that as per recovered Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) from the truck, the driver was identified as Noorullah, a resident of Gulistan Qaila Abdullah, Baluchistan.
No one has claimed the ownership of the vehicle nor pursued for its release, he said.
The official press briefing was short, incomplete and held after two days of the incident.
When asked, Bawata Check Post SHO Habibullah Leghari said that a case had been register vide FIR No 1/16 Under 9-C of Anti-Narcotics Act.
Moreover, he said, the driver had been arrested and interrogated but he succeeded to escape from the scene when he was allowed to go to a mosque for prayers (Namaz).
To a question, Habib said that currently 17 officials including one SHO/In-Charge, one Moharar and 15 constables were performing duties at Bawata Check Post.
He admitted that some officials like Anwar and Khalil are performing here since very long without transfer.
He could not give proper answer regarding escape of the driver in the presence of more than one dozen personnel.
On the other hand, a source from BMP with condition of anonymity said that two men one driver and one drug trafficker were arrested on the spot.
“After bargaining and deal with them, both the accused were released in the evening.
Even seized quantity of Charas was more than 275kg.
Timing of registration of FIR is bogus too,” he said.
The source added that some corrupt officials had been performing their duties on Bawata check-post for many years by violation of transfer policy.
In fact these officials are black sheep of BMP who making millions of rupees with the convenience of administration.
Service record of Sawar Anwar and Khalil regarding posting on Bawata check post speaks volumes, he said.
A Naib Defedar (ND) is performing as SHO on the very important inter-provincial border check post despite the availability of many defedar officers in BMP.
