Six men have been arrested over a half-tonne haul of cocaine worth £40m seized on a West Sussex beach.
The men were arrested in locations across England in a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation.
Today, a 39-year-old was arrested at Luton Airport.
Another 39-year-old was arrested in Liverpool on Monday.
And yesterday NCA officers also arrested a man, aged 38, in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire; a 45-year-old in Bournemouth, Dorset; a 41-year-old in Poole, Dorset; and a man, aged 36, in Tilbury in Essex.
On 19 August this year officers recovered a rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) at Medmerry Beach, near Selsey, West Sussex.
It contained 500kg of cocaine.
This week’s arrests take the total arrested in connection to the cocaine importation to 12.
All have been released on bail.

Two criminals who sold Class A drugs and firearms have been jailed following a National Crime Agency investigation.
Mark Nolan, 55, and Darren Herlihy, 38, operated on the encrypted communications platform EncroChat before it was taken down in 2020.
Nolan, who used the handles ‘RobustBronze’ and ‘MasterCastle’ was sentenced to 20 years yesterday at Liverpool Crown Court.
Herlihy, who used the handle ‘JerryCoke’ was jailed for 12 years.
In March this year Nolan, of Melling, Liverpool, admitted conspiracy to transfer prohibited weapons and conspiracy to supply cocaine, heroin and cannabis.
Nolan acted as an agent and broker for another EncroChat user, selling firearms on his behalf.

Un membre important de l’organisation criminelle d’origine marocaine Mocro Maffia, implantée aux Pays Bas, a été interpellé mardi 8 octobre, a-t-on appris auprès de la gendarmerie, confirmant une information du Parisien.
L’homme, de nationalité marocaine, âgé de 35 ans, selon une source proche du dossier, était sous le coup d’un mandat d’arrêt européen délivré par les Pays-Bas. Il a été interpellé par le GIGN, l’unité d’élite des gendarmes, qui intervenait en appui des enquêteurs de la section de recherches de Paris, a ajouté la gendarmerie. Le mandat d’arrêt avait été délivré à la fin d’août.

An international drug trafficker who was once one of the UK’s most wanted men has today been jailed for 20 years.
James ‘Jamie’ Stevenson, 59, masterminded a plot to smuggle nearly a tonne of cocaine from Ecuador to Glasgow Fruit Market Ltd in the city’s Kennedy Street.
The huge consignment had a street value of £76m and was hidden in boxes of bananas. It was seized at the Port of Dover in September 2020. Such was the volume of the cocaine, it took officers three days to search and pinpoint all 119 packages of the Class A drug.
Stevenson was also central to a conspiracy to produce and supply approximately 28 million Etizolam “street valium” tablets, which were seized following a raid on a pill factory in Kent.
Stevenson, known as ‘Iceman’, denied the offences until his long-awaited trial in August had begun.
Three days after the trial started he admitted two charges: directing Serious Organised Crime for the offence of importing cocaine, and being involved in Serious Organised Crime through the supply of Etizolam, a Class C drug.
He remained impassive as he was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow.
Stevenson and his organised crime group (OCG) were brought down by investigators from the National Crime Agency, Police Scotland the Metropolitan Police under Operation Venetic – the UK, NCA-led response to the takedown of encrypted communications platform EncroChat in 2020.
